The old Jewish cemetery in Szczekociny (Maria Konopnickiej Street), which already existed at the end of the 18th century, was destroyed during World War II. After the liberation, city toilets were built on the site of the necropolis at the bus station. A private house was also built in the cemetery.
In 2005, Izyk Mendel Bornstein, a survivor from Szczekociny, together with his son, Yossi Bornstein, demolished the toilets.
A plaque commemorating the Jewish community of Szczekociny was placed in the cemetery. The cemetery area was also fenced. In 2013, thanks to the efforts of the Organization of Szczekociński Jews in Israel, a monument dedicated to the Jews of Szczekocin was erected in this place.
